Clarkston, GA Refugee Sewing Society
Mission Trip
Arrived on
Thursday in time to assist with their sewing, yarn and bead classes.
We were able to meet the ladies and work with them. We also had a
time of enjoyment with the ladies while they jumped rope, made
tissue flowers and colored. Things they have never done as children
living in other countries. Met w/ the volunteers in the evening to
learn more about needs. Friday we cleaned and organized bags and
bags of donated materials, yarns and various sewing items.
Additionally curtains were made and hung, the rooms / space were
organized and cleaned along with planning a fun time for the ladies
on Saturday. We took the full time volunteers from Sewing Society
to dinner and prayed with them. Saturday we finished up our
cleaning efforts and then we had lunch with the ladies and played
softball and soccer with them. Afterwards all of the items that
would not be used at the sewing society were given away in 'yard
sale' fashion from the youngest to the oldest. Sunday we prayer
walked a house and worshiped at Clarkston International Baptist
Church with Phil and Myra Kitchins. To learn more about Clarkston a
suggested reading is "Outcasts United" by Warren St. John. You are
always welcome to go and serve, make a donation, see the website at http://refugeesewingsociety.webs.com/
or contact the associational office. Thank you for your prayers and
support!
