About Dana
Dana is a Southern Baptist Church. We have communion on the 5th
Sunday. We baptize as candidates are received. We print a bulletin
with program guidelines, but are not stiffly formal. We enjoy the church
hymnal as well as the Baptist Hymnal and have a gospel singing group. We
are friendly and welcome growth.
Dana was organized November 22, 1936 with Rev. L. H. Gardner. The Lord's
acre was begun to provide finances for the new church. The church has
been a cooperating church in the SBC and Carolina Association. Fourteen
minister's have pastored the church. The present pastor is Rev. Dan
Blackwell who became pastor on January 8, 1995.
About the Pastor
Married to Ruth Marie on October 8, 1954. Five children, Danny, Kay,
David, Thomas and Stephen. Bi-vocational pastor. Forty-two years
preaching - pastoring fourth church. Pastor of Locust Grove, February
1959-April 1971. Beulah, April 1971-August 1974. Interim, Mt. Gilead,
August 1974-Nov. 1974. Pastor Upward Baptist Church, November 17,
1974-February 6, 1994. Interim at Dana Baptist October 1994 - January 8,
1995, became pastor, still serving.
