About Etowah Our Purpose at Etowah Baptist Church...1) To evangelize sinners through witnessing, 2) To equip the saints with the Word and 3) To exalt the Savior through worship. Etowah was an outgrowth of a Sunday School held at the Oak Forest School in the Etowah community. The church was constituted February 9, 1917 with 16 members. As the church grew, several building projects were underway under the leadership of several pastors. Dr. John Rymer was called as pastor on January 1, 1959, during which time a new education building was built, and served for 30 years. Dr. David Hyde for 12 years, during which time the entire building and sanctuary were refurbished. Dr. Paul Noe was pastor from 1999 until July 2005. Brian Henderson was called in March 2006. We are a conservative Southern Baptist Church that believes in the authority and inspiration of the Bible. We believe that the Word of God has the solutions to all of man's problems.
